GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE ON FERTILIZER AND UPDATE ON SECURITY OPERATION ON MOUNT ELGON

GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE ON FERTILIZER

The government has noted that the price of fertilizer needed for the forth coming planting season is very expensive due to its shortage. To alleviate this problem, the government has authorized the Cereals Board to import fertilizer. The fertilizer should be in the country within the next 2 weeks and will be sold at an affordable price.

UPDATE ON SECURITY OPERATION ON MOUNT ELGON

The government is undertaking security operations on Mt. Elgon to arrest wanted criminals who have been terrorizing wanainchi in the area. The criminals are known and are wanted for prosecution, for murder and other crimes. The main aim of the operation is to track these armed criminals who are hiding in various part of mount Elgon so that they can be brought to justice. A combined force of the Kenya police, Administration police, GSU and with the logistical support of the Kenya Army is undertaking the operation.

So far, significant arrests have been made, which have included several of the wanted criminals. Some of the criminals who have tried to flee across the border have been stopped by our security forces and those apprehended so far are helping the police with investigations.

The Government will be providing more details later.
