The Government thanks Kenyans for supporting the new regulations on noise and for responding positively.
The whole purpose of the Noise Pollution Regulations and Environmental Management Act is to enable Kenyans to live in a peaceful environment where they can go about their business free of noise harassment. The regulations are not meant to be punitive but to respond to the need of Kenyans and indeed international standards that allow citizens to go about their business free from noise and other environmental degradation factors.
The Government wishes to remind all Kenyans that as per the new regulations, any sound heard over 30 metres from its source and immediate audience is considered noise and is in contravention of the regulations Act. Churches and Mosques and places of entertainment should note these new regulations.
The crackdown will be intensified this weekend to ensure that the law is respected and impunity stopped.
