The management of all district hopitals will be decentralized in order to give better services to Kenyans. Proper structures and systems have already been put in place. Medical staff will henceforth determine the type and quantity of drugs needed at their respective stations.
Achievements
National Social Health Insurance (NSHIF) Bill
Gazettement of the District Health Management Boards to improve service delivery in all the districts
Harmonisation of user fees at health centres and dispensaries level- this has increased utilization and improved access especially to the poor
Supply of drugs- drugs availability enhanced especially at lower level facilities
KEMSA- process of making the institution autonomous underway
Infrastructure rehabilitation undertaken in most health facilities in Coast Province.
Decongesting of Kenyatta National Hospital through secondment of staff to Nairobi City Council clinics and providing them with drugs
